It's easy and requires only a small flathead screwdriver or plastic pry bar tool. Find the small slot houses the backup or emergency metal ignition key. Place the blade of a screwdriver tool into this slot, and gently push the rear of the fob open. Once the fob is opened find the CR2032 battery and remove it. Replace the battery in its place, and join the fob.

Note: Some older Volvo models use different types of batteries which is the CR2025. CR2025 batteries have an average thickness of 7 tenths one millimeter less than CR2032 which means you'll need to be very careful when replacing your battery.
