If you're taking public transportation or often traveling via car, a light compact stroller is a great option. These strollers are easier to fold and store, and they're also less likely to be damaged by baggage handlers.

Easy to store

The Joie Pact Pro makes the perfect travel buggy. It folds up so compactly that it can fit into an overhead luggage compartment and weighs so light that you won't even notice it in your boot. It's also a great stroller for everyday use. Our test subject Hollie discovered that it was easy to steer even when carrying a baby of just one year old. She was impressed by the adjustable handle and lockable wheels, but noted that it isn't a particularly comfortable seat. It also has a feature where you can add extras such as a reversible and washable seat cover, rain cover and the foot muff.

The Babyzen YoYO is a different, impressively compact fold pushchair. It isn't as streamlined as the Cybex Libelle, but it's still a very neat package when folded and it is easy to slot in and out of trunks and boots. It has more options for newborns in comparison to other buggies for travel. You can add an infant cot or bassinet as well as a bespoke ride on board for older kids and an adapter for tandem seats.

The YOYO isn't the most compact pushchair for driving on uneven or rough terrain. Its tiny wheels do not perform as well as other models that we have test. However, it's a very manoeuvrable pushchair and the YOYO does an excellent job of navigating narrow aisles and muddy paths. It's an excellent option for a vacation or city break.

The Cosatto Supa Dupa Double Stroller: Lightweight And Compact Bee6 is a compact travel buggy that offers many features for a price that is surprisingly low. It can be folded to the size and weight of a huge bag and is simple to carry on trains and planes. It's also easy to use and our MFM reviewer Matt found it enjoyable to steer even with a large toddler in the. He also appreciated the hood that slides down low enough to shield from the sun and rain and facilitate napping. The only downside is that it has no storage under the seat and you'll have to carry or delicately drape a bag on the handlebar (against our advice!). You can also buy an additional changing bag holder to make it a fantastic holiday buggy.

Easy to maneuver

The majority of compact pushchairs are designed for toddlers and older children however, an increasing number of them offer a lie-flat seat or the option of adding an additional carrycot (or baby car seat) to make them suitable from the time of birth. These innovative concertina or Z-fold buggies are typically lightweight at around 6-8kg and can be cabin approved by a wide range of airlines, making them ideal for travel.
