What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob

It's possible that you've lost your Nissan key fob or it stopped functioning. Before you panic or call the dealer, go back and look at where you last saw it.

Make sure the positive side of the new battery faces the same direction as the old one did. Finally, close the battery compartment and return the hidden key to its safe place inside the case.

Remote Start

Lockout Protection

Lockout protection helps eliminate annoying lockouts due to the impedance relay failing. A special module in the power control unit monitors for impedance relay activity and then shuts off the output. This option is only available to vehicles with the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu of the vehicle.

Many serious accidents have occurred because a machine was turned on when it should have been shut down for maintenance or repair. These incidents are typically the result of energy that hasn't been released correctly. Lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems can prevent these incidents by ensuring that machines are off until an authorized person releases them.

The LOTO system consists of a variety of locks, tags and other devices that isolate, secure or shut off a machine from an electric source. All "affected" and "authorized" personnel must be trained in the use of these lockout/tag-out devices. These devices include but aren't limited to locks, chains padlocks, wedges adapter pins and self-locking fasteners. Each device is clearly identified and labeled, including the date and time of application, the name of the authorized individual, and the reason for the lockout or tag-out (repair maintenance, repair, etc.). It must be stated clearly that these devices are not to be removed until the LOTO procedure is completed.
